Ty stephanie but can you correct the gmt time - we are +8 to pdt so its not 3pm gmt but 4pm gmt

Are you keeping track of day light savings? Currently Pacific time is -7 hours to GMT. If you are in the UK, then you are currently +1 to GMT.

People need to stop using GMT to refer to the time in the UK in Summer. We are on BST. GMT is always +8 from PST, BST is always +8 from PDT, GMT is +7 from PDT and BST is +9 from PST.

Guru users: Talk about the timezone you mean, not the region, it avoids a lot of confusion.

If a person in the uk didnt realise by now its daylight saving then they would be constantly late for school/work etc.
To the point - as mentioned in other posts and even hobbs has said the same before - gmt +0 is actually +8 pdt - eg 12 noon pst ( when anet starts their events in summer ) is 8pm gmt .
UTC is -1 hr gmt incase thats getting you confused.
Sadly most of us europeans dont have a say in having to use gmt but believe me its worse than the few timezones you use in usa - several places are either +2 / -2 etc.

I also hate having to ask my american guildies/friends who uses pacific time ( in general ) and then do time check with them.
On a friday when anet starts events at 12 noon pdt ( atm) events start in uk at 8pm gmt - yet we get told its +7 gmt which is wrong.This leads to confusement not only for uk players but any other country that uses gmt as base - thats to say they are +3 gmt .
So they are also effected in the long run.
Maybe anet should just use utc and nothing else - that way everyone is happy as they are forced to use that time and those americans who think its trivial can go thru what we go thru yearly.

most people the usa if you asked them what utc was they would give you a look of stupidity---
we use eastern, central, mountain and pacific times (there are others for alaska and hawaii but they are rarely mentioned)...the problem is our 'daylight saving' times recently changed (it USED to be the firs sunday of April, and last sunday of October).....which caused much confusion (and was a stupid change and really really NOT worth the time and effort put into it).

the whole thing is out of date . (for further reading try this wiki page:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving)

anyways....the wiki is now down for the maintenance--if you have checked

No, you are confused.
UTC and GMT are, strictly speaking, different time systems that measure differently.* However, for most practical purposes, the two are identical.

A lot of people in the UK are confused because we live in an area where it is GMT for half a year. Sadly, this means they think that GMT = British time.

If everybody used UTC, this mis-assumption would (hopefully) go away.

Oh, and UTC isn't "French time" - UTC got its name due to the perpetual disagreement between English- and French-speaking nations as to the naming of standards. It's a halfway house between the English coordinated universal time and the French temps universel coordonné.

I provided the link so that, if you wanted, you could see that the actual times as I described them are correct.

Times are from the link I posted:
It's about 4:50pm Pacific time as I type this.

London time is at 12:50am

Current UTC/GMT time is listed as 11:50am

The difference between LA and GMT is 7 hours and between LA and London, 8hours. So an 8am Pacific start time would be 3pm UTC/GMT as (Stephane posted) and 4pm London time.

GMT time, as stated by others already, doesn't change. Perhaps, as Snograt suggested, you are equating British time with GMT?
